THE HOMELESS EPIDEMIC

Addressing the root cause.
How can you address a problem if you only see the symptom(s)? Is California leadership incompetent, or just negligent and criminal?

Lets make a comparison between the 2 major States of California and New York.

New York has slightly more homeless than our State, but at the end of each day New York only has about 4.4% of their homeless actually roughing it out on the streets. California on the other hand, leaves about 71.7% of our homeless out in the cold on rat infested, feces covered, and disease spreading cold streets.

Correct me if I am wrong, but the real estate in NY is just as expensive if not extremely more costly than properties in California.

How is it that NY can house ALL of those homeless people AND WE CANT, even with all of our tax dollars being taken from us every single hard earned payday?

Perhaps one of the issues that needs to be addressed concerns the cities and counties that are receiving funds for affordable housing as well as homeless programs, but arent doing anything with those funds. There are coastal areas that are receiving housing funds through the State budget as well as federal funds, but they are restricting the development of affordable housing. Lets keep those funds and utilize the monies in areas that are developing and will make a difference in getting our citizens off the street.

Two key elements stood out in the budget drafted by Governor Newsom and the State Assembly & Senate.

First, $5 billion dollars were allocated to two (2) separate programs. The two programs splitting the budget allocation are the affordable housing program, and the homelessness program.

Second, $23 billion dollars were allocated to providing welfare, medical, and education benefits to illegal aliens, or as Governor Newsom refers to them as "Undocumented Californians."

Are you ok with these misaligned priorities? As we stated earlier in regards to illegals and benefits, we are ok with providing medical care, even at a cost of $4 billion. But, the additional $19 billion that covers the education, welfare, and benefits programs for illegals would be better served on addressing an epidemic in our State, homelessness. Putting our tax dollars to work resolving the problems that Californians are most concerned with, that should be our priority.
